I first met Steve when he appeared out of nowhere into the Rutland Lions, "Dine for the Lions" stall at the Rutland Water Food Fayre on 17th September 2011. I'm not sure how interested he was in the fundraising event itself at the time, but what Steve was interested in was how could he join Rutland Lions and get involved in serving his local community. It was thereafter my pleasure to introduce Steve to other Lions and mentor him through to his induction into the club on 4th January 2012. From that point on Steve immersed himself in the various activities of the club, and in particular the BBQ catering events, where he became senior chef alongside his good buddy, and partner in crime Shane Reed. His partner, and later wife Debbie also became an enthusiastic supporter helping at many of our BBQs as well. Steve had a big personality and was liked immensely by everyone at the club. His loss at such a young age is a tragedy for everyone who knew and loved him. Rest in peace Steve.
